New York Festival's World's Best Television & Films competition honors programming in all lengths and forms from over 50 countries. Inside Story received three awards: a Gold Award in the United Nations Department of Public Information category; a Silver Award for Society and Social Issues Films; and a Silver Award for Feature Film.
The Toronto Black Film Festival calls Inside Story a "remarkably honest account of the impact of HIV and AIDS." As part of the festival, Inside Story screened at the Carlton Cinema on February 16, 2013.
Inside Story has received many accolades for its science and health messages, been recognized for its African cast and set, and, in December 2012, demonstrated its impact as a sports drama, winning honorable mention in the Best Sports Feature category at the Sport Movies & Tv 2013 – 31st Milano International FICTS Fest - the worldwide event dedicated to Sport, TV, culture, cinema and communication.
Inside Story received the honor of winning the first ever Zuku Awards for Best African Film and Best Actor at the 15th annual Zanzibar International Film Festival (ZIFF). The exciting new awards category recognizes the best film created by African Directors, in an African Location with African Actors and Actresses.
"We are very excited to introduce the new Zuku Awards to the Zanzibar International Film Festival,” said Wangeci Murage at the Awards Ceremony. “We aim to grow this award to one of the most prestigious Film Festival Awards in Africa."
